Before the game
How scary is it?
Quite. Shelter is an intense horror experience: darkness, fog, strobe lights and live actors who may touch or grab you. We don't recommend it for people with heart conditions, epilepsy, asthma or claustrophobia, or for pregnant women. If it gets too much, you can stop at any time (see below how).
What is the minimum age?
The minimum age is 14. Children under 14 can only take part with an adult.
What should I wear?
Clothes you don't mind getting dirty or wet: the bunker is dusty, the floors are dirty and the walls are damp. Wear comfortable shoes and tie your laces tight.
When should we arrive?
15 minutes before your booking, for the briefing. If you're running late, let us know as soon as you can.
How do we pay?
In cash, on site, on the day of the game. Monday to Thursday, the 60-minute game costs 400 lei per team and the 90-minute game 500 lei per team. Friday to Sunday, add 20 lei per person.
Can we cancel our booking?
Yes, any time and free of charge. Just please let us know at least 24 hours ahead so we can offer the slot to another team.
The actors
Are we allowed to touch the actors?
No. You may not touch the actors on purpose. Bumping into them by accident is fine, but any violence aimed at them is forbidden.
What happens if we hit an actor?
If the hit was deliberate and not an accident, your team gets the penalty set out in the declaration you sign before the game. The actors will never hit or harm you, so don't hit them either. It's only a game, after all.
What do I do if an actor pulls me away?
It's your call: let them take you, or resist. If you want to stay, shout for your teammates: grab onto each other and form a chain to pull you back.
What if an actor takes my shoes?
Don't worry, you'll get them back shortly.
Light and dark
Can we go into the dark areas?
No. You may only stay in areas that are lit all the time by a light source. Strobe light doesn't count: if a strobe goes on in a dark area, don't rush in there. Stay only where the light is constant.
What happens if we go into the dark?
An alarm goes off, which means your team got a penalty. After 3 penalties, 15 minutes are taken off your game time.
If you need help
What if I want to give up or have a panic attack?
Go up to one of the cameras on the walls and make an X with your arms. The music stops, the actors leave you alone and the game master comes to take you out of the bunker. You can give up at any time during the game.
What if we're stuck and don't know how to solve the room?
At the start of the game, the game master (GM) gives every player a bandana. If you're stuck, every member of the team ties their bandana over their eyes and turns to face the cameras watching the rooms. The music stops and the GM comes to help you.
